Discovering Coventry Food
Variety near Gosford Apartment
Like most big cities, finding food in Coventry is not difficult. There is a great variety to suit all tastes and budgets. Being a city with two universities, there are plenty of takeaways as well as restaurants.
In this article we are going to concentrate on the area around Far Gosford Street. Not only are there numerous places to eat, but it is also home to FarGo Village. This is fiercely independent! It has an eclectic mix of over 40 independent businesses. These include a craft brewery, artisan food, vegan shop, printing, a museum dedicated to Sgt Bilko and a dedicated street food hall. Plus, it is a short walk from Gosford Apartments.
Sultan Restaurant
Stepping out from FarGo Village onto Far Gosford Street we find Sultan Restaurant. This is one of the top places to eat Turkish and Middle Eastern food. It is large and open plan so ideal for meeting friends. If you are a grill lover, be sure to try the sharing platter.
Slowianka Polish & Ukrainian Restaurant
For something hearty and warming, cross the road and head to the top of the street. Here you will find the warm welcome of Slowianka. Half bar, half restaurant. If you don't know what to order, the staff are only too willing to help you choose. There is plenty on the Polish and Eastern European menu.
Palms Restaurant and Grill
Taking a walk back into FarGo Village to Palms. Serving West African food, you are sure to find something a little different. We especially recommend having the fish peppersoup for starters. Then efo riro for the main course. It's served with pounded yam!
Just make sure you are hungry as the portions are generous. The atmosphere is busy with people popping in and out. Plus, there is constant chatty around the bar and between tables. This gives a very active atmosphere and an enjoyable meal.
POD Cafe
For a lighter lunch, coffee or a snack you could do a lot worse than visit POD Cafe. Here you will find a great atmosphere. People are friendly and every detail of the interior has been thought about.
Wanting something more substantial than a snack? We highly recommend the Mediterranean served with focaccia.
Choc 'n' Roll
Fancy something sweet? Then another cafe awaits. This time with all things chocolately. Indulge yourself with real hot chocolate, served with chocolate cake. Then finish your visit with a bar of extra special chocolate.
Of course, coffee and other cafe staples are available. But Choc 'n' Roll is best known for serving chocolate. It does this very well.
Above are five of our favourite eating places in FarGo Village and Far Gosford Street. Do let us know if you try these or any others. Which is your favourite? We'd love to know...
