Fantastic Feasts and Where to Find Them
Places to eat around Nuneaton
Nuneaton is located in the very heart of England. The Ordnance Survey has pinpointed the exact centre to being just a mile away on Watling Street
Here at Lets Stay we are food lovers with a particular soft spot for cake and sweet treats. We know that when spending time in new places a great meal can be a fantastic way to start the day, a wonderful afternoon highlight or the ideal end to a day exploring. To ensure that you have nothing but great memories of your North Warwickshire stay, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite places to eat in Nuneaton all on the doorstep of Abbey Green View.
Breakfast
If you want to start your day with fresh, local produce then Rhubarb and Mustard is the place to go. Whether you’re looking for perfectly poached eggs on sourdough with avocado, fluffy pancakes with sweet and savoury toppings or delicious bacon sandwiches, you are guaranteed a warm, friendly atmosphere. Dogs are welcome on the outside patio or, if you are going exploring, you can choose takeaway so you don’t have to worry about preparing your own picnic.
Lunch
Just steps away from Abbey Green View is The Green Tearoom and Cafe, a quaint cafe serving homemade cakes, sandwiches and a glorious afternoon tea. We’ve got a soft spot for the Victoria Sponge cake but often struggle to choose from their wide selection of treats! If you’d prefer to dine back in your home from home they also do Afternoon Tea to take away, complete with clotted cream.
If you’re looking for light bites for lunch time or a main meal completed with a delicious dessert, Ego offers Mediterranean food, wine, cocktails and cask ales. The menu is a mix of Mediterranean, including French, Spanish, Italian, Greek and Moroccan classics. There's also a large choice of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menus, as well as Children's menus too. This is definitely a crowd pleaser if you’ve got a mixture of tastes in your group.
Dinner
When it comes to dinner we have a number of favourites that we often can’t choose between. If you’d like to finish the day off with a cocktail and something from the grill then CJ’s Steakhouse is a top choice. Their steaks are cooked to perfection, whether you like your steak blue or very well done! If steak isn’t your favourite way to end the day there are many other options, including salads, burgers and homemade pies.
To enjoy some of Nuneaton's history while dining, check out The Arches Bar & Restaurant. It can be found in The Coton Arches bridge, a feature in Nuneaton since about 1850 when the railway was completed. Variety is the spice of life and that is certainly offered at The Arches. They have a main menu where you’ll find many British classics, and also a separate Indian menu filled with Indian starter bowls, curries and tandoori dishes. We often have the Indian Mixed Grill to share as a starter before choosing our curry!
Our final favourite is Thai Tham. Each dish contains a spectrum of flavours and we love them all. The menu at Thai Tham contains all the delicious foods you would expect on a Thai menu, but also a number of specials. We recently enjoyed the lamb shank pad prik Thai dum, which was slow cooked in oyster sauce with mixed vegetables.
Hopefully you’ll find these recommendations helpful when you plan your staycation to North Warwickshire. We’d love to hear from you if you visit any of these places, or if you find other gems that you think we need to try!
